H.E Dr. Harib Saeed Al-Amimi, President of the SAI, headed the UAE delegation participated in the 23rd INCOSAI, held in Moscow, in the Republic of the Russian Federation from 23-28 of the current month. 

The opening session included the ceremony of handing over the presidency of the INTOSAI from the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of the Russian Federation, involving number of statements of the heads of the participated delegations that commended the fruitful efforts and the creative initiatives undertaken by the UAE during its presidency. 

It is noteworthy that SAI UAE chaired the INTOSAI for three years since 2016, which has achieved many important accomplishments both domestically within the organization and internationally which culminated in promoting the INTOSAI’s role in the international issues, especially those related to follow up of implementing the SDGs along with the anti-corruption’s issues through the direct communication and cooperation with the UN organization and its concerned regional offices. 

H.E Dr. Harib Saeed Al-Amimi, underlined in his speech during the congress that SAI UAE has ensured, in the past three years, during its presidency of INTOSAI, to double the organization achievements in which they have met many challenges that have been tackled in a professional and efficient way. Furthermore, he indicated the significant progress that have been achieved to improve the professional practices of the INTOSAI as a result of the efforts and initiatives that emerged from updating of the principles, standards and directive of the organization and scaling it up to keep up with the modern financial control concepts.

The Congress discussed two main topics along with the other topics related to the Audit work. The first is related to the information technology and the extent to which it has benefited to develop the public sector as the participants will discuss the optimal usage of the digital data quality in the public sector, and harnessing of big data in the Audit operations undertaken by the SAIs. The second topic is related to the role of SAIs in achieving the priorities and national goals in which the goals, programs effects and the governmental policies will be evaluated along with its related risks and the proper solution will be developed for the challenges and social and environmental dimensions related to implementing the SDGs. 

In addition, the congress will include meetings of the INTOSAI’s main goals committees consisted of Professional Standards Committee, Capacity Building Committee and Knowledge Sharing Committee which work to serve the strategic goals of the organization and its members. 

Additionally, the SAI will head a side meeting on the margin of the congress including SAIs to discuss the mechanism of coordination and cooperation between these SAIs and bodies concerned with the anti-corruption in order to exchange the knowledge and create connections among them.
