The SAI hosted the joint meeting for the technical experts team of the united Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its headquarter in Abu Dhabi during the period 3-4 April 2019.

The meeting discussed several subjects related to the different aspects of the UNCAC implementation and means of collaboration and joint work between SAI and NAZAHA in this regard. Furthermore, the meeting demonstrated the study of joint draft resolutions on enhancing the mechanism of implementing the UNCAC through spreading the culture of rejecting corruption practices and increasing the society awareness and adopting the mechanism of educating and raising the awareness of the educational institutions employees about the necessity of anti-corruption. In addition to the discussion of a related suggested subjects such as workshop that could be held in the margins of the 8th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, to be hosted by SAI in Abu Dhabi during the period 16-20 December 2019. 

H.E. Dr. Harib Al Amimi, president of SAI, Chairman of the INTOSAI, stated that this meeting comes in the framework of coordination and joint endeavor between the governments of UAE and Saudi Arabia especially with regard to the work of anti-corruption institutions. H.E stressed that this level of coordination and cooperation reflects the interest of the two political leadership in Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and their support to anti-corruption efforts and the seeking to prevent and punish all types of corruptions due to its devastating effects on the lives of people and communities by undermining the economy, disrupting the development projects and the confiscation of public funds and use it for other purposes.

This meeting comes to promote the importance of exchanging experiences between UAE and Saudi Arabia in anti-corruption field and the steps of implementing the UNCAC, in addition to explore the means of enhancing the concerned institutions role in anti-corruption and the important of their role in maintaining the public fund to serve the interest of the national plans for comprehensive development in the two countries. 

The meeting was attended by experts team from the UAE headed by SAI and representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior and Public prosecution, as well as the expert team in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia headed by The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NAZAHA) and representatives from public prosecution, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Interior.
