On the occasion of the international anti-corruption day, H.E Harib Alamimi, President of the SAI, Chairman of the INCOSAI said “The Ninth of December of every year was chosen to be as the international anti-corruption day, to raise awareness on the risks of corruption and demanding the international community to participate in coping corruption practices in public and private sectors”. Indicating that the UAE realized the importance of immunization the public and private practices against corruption, therefore, it started to complete the legislations system and legal frameworks that aims to prevent and fight corruption and to punish perpetrators.

He also added that the General Assembly of the United Nation adopted the United Nations Convention against Corruption in 2003, to be the first international instrument that is committed to the signatory states combined to take all measures to fight and prevent corruption and to cooperate among themselves in order to cope with all its forms. 

 “The world’s nation realized the significant risks resulting from corruption and consider it as a serious crime which undermined the rule of law, impede development, spreads poverty and ignorance and prevent people from obtaining their rights”. He said

H.E added that Based upon the good leadership belief in the importance of international community’s participation in anti-corruption and supporting efforts to implement the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the UAE decided to host the eighth Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in the year of 2019 in Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He concluded by saying that the UAE together with the rest of the world are working in fighting and preventing corruption through enact laws and legislations, establish the principles of transparency and accountability, and enhancing the criminal justice systems to pursuit of corrupt people and held accountable of their actions, as well as cooperate with the world’s nations to exchange information and pursuit funds derived from corruption.
