Abu Dhabi - 24th  September - The SAI hosted the conference of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) which started yesterday at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of financial experts from the public sector in order to shed light on several areas related to government policies that support the economic growth.

The conference aims to present the goals of the Public Financial Management (PFM) and their impact on enhancing public sector services, to provide better services and improve community wellbeing around the world, as well as achieving sustainable development, limit poverty, and eliminate fraud and corruption.

Numerous sessions were held during the conference on how to reduce fraud and corruption and manage public funds in a better way, as well as the mechanisms used by governments to promote values and ethics that supports the sustainable development.

During the conference’s opening speech, H.E. Dr. Harib Saeed Al Amimi, President of the State Audit Institution, Chairman of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), stated that the efforts against corruption during the era of globalization and technological advancement are among the key topics that should be studied and discussed. They also require greater cooperation and information exchange between relevant institutions and authorities, he added while pointing out that the SAI is the central authority in the UAE concerned with following up the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. 

The SAI has trained over 50 auditors over the past two years in its diploma program, who attained CIPFA certificates in auditing, audit assurance, anti-fraud and public sector’s financial reporting.
